Jack Ruby

So I've been thinking a lot about Jack Ruby lately. Strange, I know. For those who do not know, Jack Ruby murdered Lee Harvey Oswald by shooting him with a handgun on  Sunday, November 24, 1963, at 11:21 am CST. Lee Harvey Oswald, for those who don't know, was, according to many investigations, the assassin of JFK (Though some, including me, believe there is something more to this. But that's another post.) For some reason, I am so intrigued by Ruby, partly because of what he did. He murdered a murderer. He thought he was doing the country a service, avenging Kennedy's death. It's so interesting how even with the heinous crime of murder, one can think they are doing everyone a service. There are so many interesting characters in history. The day the assassin was assassinated..... who would've thought.

My Vision

Matthew 19:30
But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.

This poem was an inspiration from that verse. It is, in a way, a vision of heaven that I have. I envision this grand feast, and this huge table, with everyone seated together, enjoying each others company, all having one thing in common, we were all saved by the grace of God. I imagine sitting next to someone who was thought as despicable, the lowest of the lows, each of us rejoicing in the grace we have been shown. Though we seemed so different, we were one in the same, sinner and saint.

Grace: The Resounding Gong of Life

In the company of sinners and saints
The grace of God has made us all a kin
Each of us with a story that would make the other faint

All of us chose a weapon to taint
The world we lived within
In the company of sinners and saints

Yet, each of us had realized through the stories that we paint
We're one and the same, saint and sinner, enemy, yet friend
Each of us with a story that would make the other faint

We go through this world, each with our own complaints
Not realizing the grace of our creator yet again
In the company of sinners and saints

Going through our lives as though free from all constraints
Until our story inevitably comes to an end
Each of us with a story that would make the other faint

Our savior Christ, who gives us all restraint
And cares for our souls, no matter the sin
In the company of sinners and saints
Each of us with a story that would make the other faint.
